Hi guys!
So I was thinking, after our core features are finished and improvements have been made to them, what feature should I release before/during beta?
Personally I was thinking pvp battles. It would be a complicated system which I haven't fully worked out the details on, so any suggestions on that would be appreciated if you would like that feature first.
We could also do competitions first instead, which is basically a system where you can enter pets and they get judged and win based on their beauty, strength, intelligence, etc. Certain items can be consumed by pets to temporarily raise their stats each day for these competitions.
There are also other features we could implement first like guilds, monthly site quests, avatar customization, and others!
Let me know your thoughts and suggestions for features if you have any too! I haven't brainstormed too much yet about how each system will work so additional feedback would help me greatly. (:

In all the adoptable games I've played, battles always tended to be simple or get very skewed. Contests like in Pokemon diamond and pearl could be fun, with you being able to choose what aspect of the pet to highlight (cool, cute, beautiful, etc.) either permanently or every "season". Some pets might be naturally predisposed to be better at certain fields (maybe this could be hidden to prevent the same pets being used over and over). Tiers could stop OP owners winning against newbies.

I like the idea of battling. I'm not sure how that would work PvP, but I assume it would most likely be a complicated system. However, something PvE could also work, with our beasties going up against wild versions or specific mobs. They could drop loot and Sheepgold, maybe even items that are exclusive to battling? I definitely support a tiered structure, to prevent more hardcore battlers from beating the crap out of lowbies. As for contests and such, as Chicago mentioned, a Pokemon-esque pageant could be cool. Maybe we could have accessories that we need to make via recipes and components, and then some sort of like.. in-browser editing thing where we could place them on our summons (I hope that makes sense. xD) I like the idea of guilds too! C: Could add a competitive edge, if there are monthly site quests. Pit guild against guild for bragging rights or special or exclusive summons/pets (is there a 'proper' term for the monsters/animals we get? ).

Magdalena, chicago, Thanks for the feedback! For PvP, I think we would definitely have a "rank" system as you both mentioned so that newer players don't get completely pummeled lol. I like the idea of PvE, maybe we can implement that first, since it would be simpler and I imagine less costly on me haha! What I'm thinking for battles/competitions, is that both the player's stats and their chosen beast's stats are added together to determine their overall strength. A player's base stats will be chosen when they first signup. They can choose from a few different classes (mage, warrior, assassin, etc) and to be successful in battling/competitions, they'll need to select the right armor/clothing and even beast companion. That's as far as I've gotten so far haha! Magdalena, I call them beasts! But call them whatever you're comfortable with. c:

Lavie Beasts it is! :3 I like the idea of different classes, could also be used for guild-building and roleplaying, if that's gonna be a thing here. (And regarding guilds, those could be predetermined, so there would be official guilds or schools/etc for each class.) Personally, I would kind of prefer the classes to be permanent, or perhaps the option to change them could be a premium currency buyable, that way people aren't just jumping between different classes to exploit the bonuses. Another competition idea could be art based, for those who are artistically inclined. Maybe a monthly themed art contest? Those are usually pretty interesting. C:

That's a great idea! Certain guilds for certain classes. (: I was thinking of player-made guilds too (but they would be expensive/require a license). Maybe there's the default NPC guild any user can join and then player-made guilds that the owners can pick and choose who they want.
Classes will also be mostly permanent, but can be switched by spending a lot of gold/premium currency as you mentioned. I think I will allow users to have multiple accounts so that they can have multiple classes if wanted. I don't really see the harm in that. Would be good too if, say, you're a mage that managed to obtain a really nice warrior armor piece but since it does nothing for your stats, you can just trade it to your warrior account instead of selling/never using it.
And we will definitely have art competitions/events, especially writing ones! I love writing and lore, and having the users create that themselves is really rewarding and interesting. ^^

Excellent! Writing is my element, though I dabble a bit in drawing and digital art, but I really look forwards to writing competitions. :3
Perhaps if people are allowed multiple accounts, the accounts should be linked somehow? Like, maybe they have to have a main/core account, and somewhere on their profile the others are linked, that way they can't use their multiple accounts to unfair advantage, like in competitions or something.
Or, alternatively, maybe we can create more than 1 summoner, and switch between them. Each player could be considered a clan or House or something, and have multiple summoners, if they want to experience the different classes. I don't know how difficult that would be to program though, don't wanna put too much strain on the programmer! >w<

Magdalena, yea I'll research and talk to my programmer about how best to go about allowing multiple accounts. (: Most games just let you have another account under another email (except WoW, their system is really nice, but it's WoW... ;- , so we might just make it as simple as that for now. I'm not sure if it would also cause future complications if we allowed multiple summoners on the same account. For example maybe certain beasts in the future can only be summoned by certain classes (not concrete, just an example), or certain items are only found/bought by certain classes. This would mean we would need whole separate inventories and beast areas for each summoner on each account. That would probably be a loooootttt of programming lol! Simply allowing users to have multiple accounts, and/or switch their summoners' class (with a hefty price of course) could be easier in my opinion. I don't like to say anything is set in stone though. If the game manages to do well we could really have all sorts of nice systems in place. ^^

Multiple accounts sounds like a good addition to the game, but I'd limit it a bit. Maybe only allow multiple accounts if each account has a different class? I am not really certain how the site is going to work eventually, but for example with exploring/grabbing items, there will probably be a larger cooldown (right?) or at least some time-limitations to the game. If you were to allow people to make as many multiple accounts as they wish, they could just create tons of sub-accounts and then transfer everything over to their 'main account'. I do love the idea of multiple accounts though, makes it a lot more easier for people who don't really want to interact with the community, to actually craft everything on their own!
For the new feature, I'd do a battle system first! I'm not too much into battle systems because most pet sites have such boring systems for those. That's why I'm so interesting seeing this game's battle system. But honestly anything that has been suggested sounds pretty neat and interesting, can't wait to see some of these things added to the game one day!

Thornes, yea I'm going to figure out a good way to have multiple accounts but keep the game balanced at the same time. (: Nothing is set in stone right now though. I could even completely go back on this and not allow multiple accounts, or if we're lucky do what Magdalena said and allow players to have one account with multiple characters on it. I haven't thought about it too much as I'm mainly just focused on getting all the early stuff the site really needs out the way, but in time this topic will be touched on again! For battling, it will definitely be one of our first "fun" features! Before this though, we will most likely incorporate equippable armor/weapons for players, since I'm thinking I want battling to include both the player and their chosen beast vs other player and their chosen beast. Nik has an idea he hasn't told me about yet for the battling system though, so we'll see.
